The GNU Bourne-Again-Shell is a shell as defined by POSIX. It is usually used inside the context of a GNU system, or another system using the GNU coreutils.

It is an improved version of the original Bourne shell. Since it is the default shell used in a lot of GNU/Linux distributions, it is also the most popular one. That also makes it the shell of choice for shell scripts.

I need to batch-convert a few files. Let's write a bash script for it!

The Z shell is a feature-rich UNIX-like shell. It is usually seen as a continuation of the original sh, while improving on many features on other shells.

Those include advanced ksh-style globbing, cyclic completion, and lots more. It is released under a BSD-style license.
