High Standards

A person who demands an extremely specific person to be their lover. It is usually very hard for someone with High Standards to meet a compatible person, but if all standards are met, she is a keeper.

"Ugh, I hate my love life."

"What's wrong Bob?"
"This girl I met is a Christian, Gamer, Speaks 15 languages, and is a black belt in karate! But she isn't a Virgin smh. She doesn't meet my standards, so I'm going to have to let her go."

When one wouldn't let themselves fall below a certain line. What that line is depends on the person. It CAN be used as an excuse, but for many it is a way of life.

I'm an athlete, and if I want to be the best, I must reach and maintain a high standard.

I would not go out with a shallow person because I have high standards.

I will not pay to watch that movie because it is shallow and I just have high standards.

This is an excuse used by people who are afraid to get into relationships. Since no one knows what these standards are, no one can possibly be expected to meet them. Therefore, all potential love interests are disqualified before the first date.
