Phone tag

The process where you try to call someone and only get their answering machine. They in turn get the message and call you only to get your voice mail. Repeat until one of you give up.

Phone tag

a silly little game where one bored person calls another and says "tag youre it"; the receiver of the call then continues the game by calling another person, and so on. The game ends when an annoyed person who has received five calls from five different people decides to not call anyone, thereby discontinuing the chain of phone calls. One can keep from receiving multiple phone calls by saying "no tag backs" to the person who calls.

stephanie got called five times in one game of phone tag because she forgot to say "no tag backs".

Dammit, I tried to call Jennifer, but she was asleep. Then she called me back when I was in the shower! We've been playing phone tag all morning.

Phone Tag

Phone tag is when someone starts a really big groupchat with a whole ton of people and the person thats "IT" will take and send a picture (usually a really bad picture) of another person in the groupchat and that person is now it and so on and so forth.it doesnt really stop though-

"bro i was trying to sleep but people kept tagging me in the phone tag groupchat. i litteraly got no sleep."

phone freeze tag

A variant on phone tag wherein the caller trying to contact you decides to leave an exceedingly long message, forcing you to listen to it before calling back, and thus spend several minutes "frozen" while hearing him or her blather on.

Another way to play is to try to call the person back just seconds after you've missed their call, so you'll either get a busy signal or have your call ignored while they're still leaving their message on your phone.

Each of these scenarios has the potential to last for hours.

Erica: Should I call you while you're at work and you can hit me back while you're on break?

Seth: Nah, I don't wanna play phone freeze tag with you all night. My job is stressful enough as it is.
