Persian for "one of us", or simply "insiders", the word is a slang term referring to the various political and religious elites of Iran, often negatively and critically. They are divided into various factions and power centers that vie for wealth and power within the power structures of the Islamic Republic - often at the expense of everyone else. The khodi have used their political influence to gain massive wealth in a way that resembles the oligarchs of Russia.
