Nowadays it's a gentrified suburb where some people stayed when their varrio turned into a regular ass neighborhood, was a genuinely bad place to live in for a while and all the little neighborhoods had their slang names and shit, and all of that culture specific to Torrance is just gone now. It's really a husk of what it used to be, which was shit, but it was a special kind of shit, a type of shit that hasn't been recreated ever since people began finding it cooler to call their neighborhoods by the street number or block names.

Get the Mocha Latte mug.Someone who exaggerates their southern heritage to comically stereotypical degrees, oftentimes looked down upon in both rural and urban environments. In rural America, being a hick has the implication that you ain't really a redneck and you're dumb as a rock too. Redneck in this case would refer to having more genuine ties to southern culture. Many urban dwellers may misuse hick as a catchall for poor people from rural areas, but proper properly using hick will insult their whole family line so it's a pretty decent insult.

Get the Hick mug.A city located in the SLO County section of the Salinas Valley. The second most populous city in SLO County, with a very large amount of small towns and villages entirely relying on Paso Robles. With one of the most striking examples of a wealth gap, the city looks mostly like suburbs, ghettos, and projects but somehow they managed to make it all 3 at once. The culture is an odd mixture of the general central coast culture, rural Californian, rich rural Californian, and Mexican. You can tell how much someone hates the city based on their usage of "white trash" and "wetback". The Downtown area is very different than the rest of the city and is one of the few areas you'll feel safe walking around at night. The homeless are generally nice people and you can make friends with them using an initial offer of reds or a beer. The gangs aren't violent generally, with shootings only happening once a week at most, you only have to look out for Vagos MC, but you'll always have to look out if you own a food truck for whatever reason. Most people do drugs there, especially weed and alcohol, but also shrooms. Benzos, Opioids, Amphetamines, and Dextromethorphan are also abused. Overall I'd say the city is pretty decent with nice people.
