A band out of Bakersfield that created Nu-Metal.
Line up:
John Davis - lead vocalist and bagpipe player. He can scream, sing, and he occasioanally does scat singing, too. His vocal styles vary quite a bit on each album.
Fieldy - Contrary to the post by Switch (dumbass).. a pretty awesome bass player. Capable of slapping, double slapping, double popping, and standard finger plucking.
Munky - The RHYTHYM guitarist for KoRn. Munky does NOT play lead, as some tards may think.. just watch any live video. It is pretty easy to distinguish what he is playing compared to Head on the recordings. Munky plays all of the droning chords (sometimes accompanied by Head), and most (if not all)of the parts that use a wah pedal. He also created the Ibanez K7 with Head.
Head - The lead guitarist of the band.. or at least he used to be. He left because he was so strung out on drugs that he turned to christianity. Plays all of higher-pitched guitar parts choruses (ie: Here to Stay, Trash, Hey Daddy, Got the Life, etc.), and generally uses less guitar effects than Munky during the verse part of the song.
David Silveria - Drummer for KoRn. Started playing with Fieldy, Head, and Munky when he was only 13; having to get permission from his mom. Uses Tama drums and hi-hat along with Paiste cymbals.
KoRn is respected by many rappers and rockers alike. They were also the second white group ever to play at the Apollo in Harlem; preceeded by Buddy Holly in the late 1950's.. quite an accomplishment. Every single ablum they have ever released has gone platinum at least once.

A seriously great band. Although their older songs were better, their new stuff still kicks ass. And no, I'm not some dumb-ass wanna-be goth who doesn't listen to 'real' metal. All you KoRn-haters that make that stupid assumption can fuck off. Anyways, they are one of the best bands ever, and are completely original. (Plus, they guest-starred on South Park, which is one of the coolest things that you can possibly do.) KORN RULES!
Some Amazing KoRn Songs Include:
Dead Bodies Everywhere
Blind
Clown
Freak On A Leash
Thoughtless
Here To Stay

Innovators of the heavy metal subgenre we now know as nu-metal or aggro-rock. Korn currently consist of 4 members now that rhythm guitarist Head has departed the band; Jonathan Davis, a great frontman and talented vocalist, Munky, a rather average guitarist (along with Head), Fieldy, a pretty slick bassist who greatly defines the band's sound, and Dave Silveria, an underrated and highly talented drummer. KoRn is known for their heavy sound, low-tuned guitars and dark themes and humour.
KoRn has many devoted fans around the world who love them for the music, not because of some poseur teen-angst image complex. It is because of these poseurs that many people hate KoRn, basing their opinion on the fact that many people who like the band shop at Hot Topic and suck at life, so the band must suck too. In reality, KoRn are respected by musicians as innovators, and famous because their sound simply kicks ass. KoRn acknowledges the fact that their recent albums have been sub-par due to wiggerism and promises to return to their roots in their next album. Hey, at least they admit it and learn from it, unlike some bands who use the phrase "people don't like it just because it's different" as an excuse for their crapiness.
In conclusion, you don't have to like KoRn... just don't hate on them for stupid reasons. A lot of people think "real" metal bands like Iron Maiden and Lamb of God suck too, so keep that in mind when you bash them.

No, Korn is NOT a "band for 13-15 year old gothic kids who smoke weed in their back yard."
1) Adults listen to Korn
2) Why do you have to label us as 'goths' just because we like the colour black. Labels are for soup cans, not for people
3) I don't smoke weed and I love korn so you can bugger off.
In terms of an actual definition, Korn started as a metal band in 1994 with their self titled album. personally, I don't like it as much as some of their other abums but it's apparently one of the best. Other albums include Follow the Leader, Life is Peachy, Untouchables, Issues and Take a Look in the Mirror. (Yhese might be in the wrong order and I'm sorry for that....) They are also releasing a greatest hits album and have now released See You On The Other Side which, in my opinion, is the best album yet. It is brilliant. They are kick ass live.
Described as Linkin Park, but heavier. This is only true in some sense.
Their style has been copied very often, but I still think that they're the only ones who can pull it off that well.
Are currently one band member short because he left to lead a full religious Christian life. It's a shame, that...

Boy: I'm going to a Korn concert. I'd invite you along, but I think that you won't like the screaming. Maybe you should stay up and do your nails or something.
Me: *raises eyebrows.* You don't have to invite me along. I bought my own tickets as soon as they were released.
Boy: You like them?
Me: Duh. In case you hand't notice, the sexist days of 'boys listen to metal and girls listen to britney spears' is well and truly over. Piss off.

A nu-metal band, most popular in the late 1990's and early 2000's. Famous for their legions of highly-defensive fans who write long screeds assuring the world that they (the fans) are not goths, poseurs, thirteen years old, suburban kids, wannabes, Hot Topic shoppers, stoners, or otherwise useless globs of angst and conformity; and that the band is, or is not, "nu-metal", "hardcore", "mainstream", "tru-metal", "alternative metal", or any number of other meaningless, media-created subgenres used to further divide "the consumers" into more-specific (and thus, more easily marketed to) categories.
"Hey, did you read the Urban Dictionary entry on KoRn?"
"Yeah, I did. Jeez, are they defensive much? I mean, you can get info about the band, sure...but you've gotta click thru pages and pages of 'OMG i aM nOt a HotTopic goTh waNNabE!!!!!! and N E way KoRn iz NOT 'nu-metal bcuZ...' It's easier to just go to Wikipedia."
