Romance Rooster 

An older man who used to kiss his wife very often when they were dating. But now has lost the pleasure of kissing. One 'Pickles' strip showed Earl and Opal fighting because he no longer kissed her. This was what lead to the Romance Rooster (Pickles July 25, 2004)

Romantic relationships are a business—because each party is trying to get the most for the least, a negotiation, and a can culminate in a partnership where both parties reproduce themselves by having children.

Fabara realized that contradicting the prevailing understanding of what romantic relationships and love are, romance is really a business where the man and the woman both work to get the most they can by giving the least to the other person. Of course, sometimes participants in a romantic relationship "fall in love" and start giving the most they can to the other person. However, their purpose is always to get the most in return. Also, keep in mind that love is basically need. And the way it works is by making individuals feel love for someone they calculate will be able to and will satisfy one or more of their needs, such as sex, protection, connections, etc.
